New construction, custom home was built in the Newport style of a New England home. The classic style of this home clad with siding has arched outcoves and porches that add subtle character and drama to the facade. The soft palette of a pale green exterior is punctuated with black ironworks-style windows to add a touch of modern elegance to this traditional home. The home was built around the mature landscape, which makes the home seem as if it has always been here.
Black frame doors with black trimmed transom windows balance the modern with the traditional. The star of the front yard is the specimen Sycamore tree. The house was designed around the tree to preserve its majesty. Lush landscaping was added to ensure that this home was able to fit into the character of the established neighborhood without the look of a new home.
The home has extensive woodworking detail including beautiful white oak flooring, built in cabinetry reminiscent of New England homes, and wood clad ceilings throughout–including the vaulted and tray ceilings, which give a fresh take on a classic ceiling treatment. This home is expansive and includes a large open chef’s kitchen with a huge island. A central dining area looks out onto the backyard and casually seats 8, but can easily expand for formal dining to seat 20. A comfortable, yet elegant large family room completes the public spaces in this home that was designed for indoor and outdoor entertaining.
Off the rear exterior there are three covered porches one with skylight details, another with an open trellis. While connected from a visual perspective, each is a distinct area that can be used for dining and lounging. Open up the french doors of the house and the entire main floor seamlessly flows outside making the home perfect for large gatherings. As with all homes in Southern California, a pool in the backyard was a must. Custom stone pavers create another patio perfect for dining and connect to the pool. Exhibiting another balance between modern and traditional, the pool has modern style with clean lines, and a low profile design. A spa was also integrated into the pool.
