2019 Design Excellence Awards
Krueger Architects has been awarded three ArCHdes Awards for Design Excellence for 2019 from Architect’s Creating Homes (ArCH). The three projects that were selected are: one new home built on a double lot and two whole house, major renovations. The awards are presented annually to Architects and Designers and are voted on by fellow Architects. ArCH is an international organization of licensed architects focusing on residential architecture, professional excellence, achievement, client value, and service.

Radiant floor heating is an excellent choice for renovations in Southern California. Many of the existing homes in and around Los Angeles were not originally built with heating or air conditioning. When you are a design-build firm and you are hired to do a major renovation of a historically significant home, it’s a bit like being a detective. The owners of these homes are generally interested in preserving the character and style of the home–all the things they love about it–and getting rid of all the things they hate. You’ve got to work with them to figure out these important details and to also discover what the the original architect’s intentions were.

Using inset LED lighting behind the exterior grade onyx stone, the firepit has a soft glow when used at night. During the day, it serves as a stunning focal point on this outdoor patio. Our design took top billing in the list of ’20 Patios Celebrate the Fire Pit.’

The French version of Houzz recently included an article about designs and materials for outdoor partitions, wall cladding, and shade structures. They selected 12 outstanding examples of unique outdoor enclosures and creative ways to elevate the design of your outdoor entertaining spaces.
Krueger Architects was honored that Houzz choose to feature the shade structure we’d designed for the Joffre backyard. This vertical metal slat structure is used to both create shade as well as an intimate conversation area with seating and a fire feature.
