Design renderings for new modern home in Brentwood that is currently under construction and boasts three floors of luxury living with a direct connection to the outside and a purposeful blending with nature.

Three distinct masses, one behind the next, allow for maximization of the square footage on a narrow, yet deep lot.  Starting street side, enter through the private gate to a front motor court and garage.  A walkway directs you to the front door, past the second main volume of the home.  Approach the front door over a bridge that spans the ground level entry to the underground garage and you enter into the home and the third main massing of the structure.

Contemporary Design of Multi-Level Luxury Home Creates Balance Between Organic and Modern

Currently Under Construction

California modern homes have clean lines, a muted color palette, and large spans of glass.  To successfully take these design elements and make them feel like a natural outgrowth from the land is a balance of art and architecture.  This new home designed by Krueger Architects and in consultation with Nevada-based Blue Heron, captures that balance.  Combining together, Blue Heron’s experience creating unobtrusive home designs that blend with the desertscape, along with Krueger Architect’s skill of humanizing modern architecture in California, achieves this very intentional goal.

The exterior material is an off-white, smooth coat stucco used on all three major massings of the home.  Natural light is brought in through a series of open trellis systems over walkways and outcroppings from the main structure.  A paint palette of natural shades of browns and black accentuate the design’s balance.  Another key component of the balanced design is the extensive use of mature landscaping with native plantings.  The curved lines of the vegetation, the variegated green tones, along with shades of brown and then bright pops of color anchor the more linear nature of the structure.  Water is another key element with several water features around the property.  This includes a cascading water wall at the side of the home.  Here, the water flows over the side from a story above and down beside a private and secluded lounge space that is the lower level of the home and the open, 3-story courtyard centrally located.

The interior spaces feel intimate and intentional, yet on a grand scale with design features such as two-story, stone slab wall in the living room with an inset fireplace. The spaces feel boundless through the extensive use of glass walls, windows, and sliders.  The commercial grade kitchen, featuring a 12-person island, is directly connected to the large living room; and through a pocketing wall of glass sliders, opens directly to the covered back patio.  Here you’ll find outdoor dining, an outdoor kitchen, and a large L-shaped pool.   Adjacent to the dining space, the pool is shallow and provides ambient noise through the gentle lap of the water over the infinity edge.  Out from under the covered porch, the pool widens and becomes deeper.  It is surrounded by lounge spaces. This includes a covered area at the backside of the pool with TVs and a firepit perfect for evenings under the stars.
