To practice wellness is the deliberate pursuit of activities and a lifestyles that leads to a state of positive, holistic health. While topics such as clean eating tend to dominate the conversation on wellness, wellness is much more broad and includes how the built environment affects your daily life. Wellness is multidimensional. Our physical wellness, emotional, spiritual, and social health are all influenced by the homes and buildings we occupy—both directly and indirectly.
Architects Creating Homes’ has awarded Krueger Architects two of their design excellence in residential design awards for 2018. The ArCH Design Excellence in Residential Design is an international competition and the winners were announced in May. ArCH is an American-based international organization of licensed architects focusing on residential architecture, professional excellence, achievement, client value, and service. The design excellence awards are presented annually to Architects and Designers and are voted on by fellow Architects.
When you not only design homes but are also the builder, you are constantly innovating and seeking new and better ways to ensure that what you design for your clients can be built. There is a symbiosis between the two disciplines when you are Design-Build and it is the client who gets the direct benefit of this connectivity. Case in point, at the Ocean Front Walk project we had an expansive rooftop area that had the potential to be a beautiful space. We envisioned a firepit, outdoor seating, a barbeque, outdoor dining, and flexible shading.
When your front yard is made of sand, you wake up each day to the sounds of waves crashing and you toast each night to the beautiful colors of the sunset over the water. Beach living is about the lifestyle and principal to that is relaxation and entertaining with family and friends.
